Controversy has once again been created around the death of a Hindu teacher in Bangladesh. Initially, an attempt was made to treat her death as a road accident, but it did not hold up. According to the local sources, the Hindu teacher jumped from a moving auto to save her honour. Later she died of injuries.
Deceased Hindu teacher Supta Rani Das (30) was a resident of Shaistaganj Upazila of Habiganj. Her death is shrouded in mystery. The incident took place in the Faridpur area of Shaistaganj-Deundi road on Thursday morning.
The locals say that the teacher was on her way to school when the CNG auto driver found her alone and tried to take her to a different location. At that moment, she jumped out of the running auto to save her honour. Supta Rani Das was an assistant teacher of Nishapat Government Primary School in Shaistaganj and the daughter of Pavitra Das of Mahmudpur village in Habiganj Sadar Upazila.
In this regard, the head teacher of Nishapat Government Primary School Jyotsna Akhter said, “I immediately went to the hospital after receiving the news. But due to the lack of knowledge, it was not possible to know the real incident from Supta Rani Das.”
Earlier on July 29, a Hindu woman who was a mother of two children, was brutally raped and killed by unknown miscreants in front of her daughter. The incident took place in Dinajpur district of Bangladesh.
Assistant District Primary Education Officer of Habiganj Touhidul Islam said, “it is believed that the CNG driver tried to move to a different road after finding the teacher alone, and she jumped to save her honour and got injured. She later died while undergoing treatment.
Nazmul Islam, OC of Shaistaganj police station, said that he had received information about the accident. However, no complaint was received.
