Gopalganj: Hindu teacher beaten and forced to drink poisonous chemical, none arrested

Assaults and assassination attempts on the Hindu community continue in Bangladesh. This time a Hindu teacher named Milton Talukder was seriously beaten up and an attempt was made to kill him by consuming poisonous chemicals, in Gopalganj’s Tungipara Upazila, in Bangladesh. He is the Assistant Headmaster of Gopalpur Panchapalli High School. This incident has created panic among the local Hindus. The victim Hindu teacher’s brother Sujan Talukder has filed a case with the Kotalipara police station.

The accused in the case are Kibria Biswas, son of Chan Mia (Rabi) Biswas of Barshapara village in Kotalipara, Rasul Biswas, Dulal Biswas and his son Hafiz Biswas. There are multiple cases in the name of accused Kibria Biswas.

On Friday (June 24) afternoon, on the way to his sister’s house in Sheorabari village of Gopalganj Sadar Upazila, Milton Talukder was beaten up on the paved road from Tungipara to Majhbari.

Milton Talukder’s younger brother Sujan Talukder said, “On the way to my sister’s house, Kibria Biswas, Rasul Biswas, Dulal Biswas, Hafiz Biswas, son of Dulal Biswas started randomly beating my elder brother with bamboo and wood stick before he understood anything.” When he fainted in the beating, he was forced to drink poisonous chemicals. Upon receiving the news, I admitted him to Kotalipara Hospital with the help of other Hindu locals. When his condition deteriorated, he was later referred to Gopalganj 250-bed General Hospital.

Gopalpur locals said the attackers had been trying to illegally occupy Hindu land at the Gopalpur Bazar for a long time. There are also lawsuits about this place. Protesting against this injustice, the Hindu teacher Milton Talukder was attacked and an attempt was made to kill him due to previous hostilities. Milton Talukder is the Assistant Headmaster of Gopalpur Panchapalli High School. Police have not yet made any arrests in the incident.
