The euphoria raised in 1971 with the rising emotions of Bengali nationalism-based identity ended in a smoke when immediately after the initial period of bonhomie it ebbed with the exposition that Bengali Hindu population in Bangladesh, in lieu of restoring their minimum human and citizenship rights, continue to suffer from the same torture, mental and physical. The author (Dr. Rinita Mazumdar) has tried to offer some theoretical backgrounds to explain genocide but for us, Islam is embedded with the elements of stern genocides advocating massacre of people not towing their faith blindly. During the one and half a million years of its existence it has devastated hundreds of thousands of people throughout the globe and at the present moment their delinquency has enveloped all the continents of the world. We can at most state that a wrong worldview is behind all the genocides from Marxist massacres to Nazi holocaust or Islamic Jihad. (Book Review Hindu Genocide)
The second cause of innuendos was exposed when the international forums started revealing the horrors of incidents during the so-called Bengali culture-based freedom struggle and the figures of Hindus genocides, Hindu women’s rape and their properties looted and last of all, loss of their first class citizenship rights began to trickle. All these happened despite huge loss of Hindu India’s lives and assets. The Indian government and the poisonous secular media suppressed the horrors of Muslim atrocities from the Hindus of India.
It is time for the international community to finally stand up for Bengali Hindus. The international community must affirm the 1971 Bengali Hindu genocide now. 50 years has elapsed, this affirmation of the genocide is long overdue. We need to acknowledge the 1971 Bengali Hindu genocide to show that we stand against genocidal violence now and in the future.
Immediately after the Indian Army withdrew from Bangladesh the Bangladeshi leadership took no steps to safeguard the Hindus and other minorities and tribals. Forced islamization, desecration of temples, the looting of Hindu properties and even rape, abduction and murder went on continuously unabated after a brief respite. The author has poignantly highlighted these valiant issues with a grueling constancy, the only difference being that East Pakistan’s Punjabi Muslim rulers were replaced by Bangladesh’s Bengali Muslims.
Officially thirty lakhs of Bengalis were murdered in a well-orchestrated pogrom, about eighty percent of the victims being Hindus. Six lakhs of Bengali women were raped. They didn’t spare the old or the children, mostly Hindus. The Pak generals fixed rape charts for their soldiers; porn movies were shown to them to sexually charge them up. It is the most incredible calculated thing since the days of the Nazis in Poland, says one high US official.
While the Hindus of Bangladesh were away to India as refugees their home and landed property were looted or occupied by the very Bengali Muslim neighbors. The Hindus have been socially, economically and politically marginalized though Bangladesh Muslims got their freedom at the cost of Hindus.
Bangladesh’s educational curriculum don’t include the role of Hindus both as victims and participants. They glorify themselves. Some even repent for their lost Pak identities. India’s prominent political figure D P Dhar wrote that India’s Congress- Communist ecosystem had done their best to suppress the Communal nature of the massacre of Hindus.
Even the seemingly pro-secular Mujib retained the Enemy Property Act that indulged in grabbing Hindu properties without any kind of compensation.
The continued pogroms on Hindus have spread indignity and frustration amongst Hindus of India. Even though we boast of being the world’s fourth strongest military power if we are unable to defend our coreligionist Hindus of Bangladesh it’s no use. India has tolerated sufficiently long, now it has to act. Either she can stage a Hindu upsurge movement supported by her or directly intervene.
We have been flush with stories of protracted tortures on Hindus but now it is time to claim back proportion of Bangladesh land on the basis of demographic proportion at the time of partition. This would pose a great threat to Bangladesh’s survival as it is already suffering with a teeming population.

Despite absolute lack of editing the book deserves acclaim due to its bold attempt at bringing out in the open the Hindu massacres at the hands of their Muslim compatriots. The technical faults that desirably would be met in its next edition are overshadowed by the basic honesty of the truths it brings to light. The narrative must be woven around the horrible truths brought to light.
