Barisal: Durga idol vandalism continues in Bangladesh

Once again, Ma Durga idols were vandalised in a temple in the Barisal district of Bangladesh. The attack was carried out by unidentified miscreants on Saturday night. Local Hindus entered the temple on Sunday morning and found the idols broken.

Local Hindus found the broken idols on Sunday and informed the local police. On receiving the news, the police team headed by SI Rafiq of Mehendiganj police station visited the spot. After visiting the spot, he assured that the culprits would be given appropriate punishment.

Badal Krishna Pal, president of Mehendiganj Upazila Pooja Celebration Parishad, said that they immediately rushed to the spot after getting the news of the vandalism of the idol of Kashipur temple. Most of the idols in the temple were vandalized. The leaders of Mehendiganj Puja Celebration Parishad strongly protested and condemned this incident and demanded that they take legal action against the criminals.

Previously, on September 12, unknown miscreants vandalised an under-construction Durga idol in Lahini Karmakar village in Kushtia district. At one point, the attackers fled when the local Hindus noticed. During this attack, the attackers broke the heads, arms, legs, etc. of the under-construction Durga idol.
