The vigraha of Gaudeshwari (Goureswari).
The Gaudeswari is a prime example of the female centric culture of Bengal. It is the only mandir in Bharat where Matri Pinda is libated.
Located in a village called Ramkeli near to Gauda, this temple is inside a mango garden on the west of the Firoze Minar. The main temple was destroyed during the time of the Nawabs and the ruins were thrown in the Ganges. The vigraha of the Goureswari devi is carved on the temple stones. Only women are allowed to do “Matri Pinda Daan”.
